After looking online at literally hundreds of RVs and speaking with dozens of sales reps from all over the eastern region, I settled on a 2015 Fleetwood Excursion 33D. It was located at a Camping World in Richmond, IN. It was 34′ long on a Freightliner chassis with a Cummins 300HP diesel power plant, with only 8700 miles.
The best part is I’m probably saving $30-40k vs. buying new.
This model felt real “homey” and came with an optional combo washer/dryer, although my unit didn’t have it installed at the factory. However, the electric and water hookups were already plumbed, so I negotiated as part of the purchase deal that they install a brand new Splendide 7100XC.
She was perfect and had all the amenities of home (sans a dishwasher), plus plenty of drawer and closet space. So I drove all the way out to Indiana, and after some hiccups with the deal and the Camping World sales staff (story for another day), I finally brought ‘er home.
